Final Row provides hands-on design and development consulting for designers and brands that need professional guidance before or during the sampling process.
You do not need to have every detail figured out before contacting us.

The level of support depends on how developed your project already is.
Some clients come to us with complete technical information and only need manufacturing guidance. Others arrive with reference images and an idea that still needs to be translated into a garment that can actually be patterned, sampled, and produced.
YOU DO NOT ALWAYS NEED A COMPLETE TECH PACK
A professional tech pack is useful, but it is not always necessary to begin working with Final Row.
We can review:
- Sketches
- Reference images
- Existing garments
- Measurements
- Fabric swatches
- Trim references
- Partially completed tech packs
- Completed tech packs
If the information provided is sufficient for us to understand the intended garment, we can determine what additional development is actually necessary before sampling.
We do not believe in adding unnecessary development steps simply because they are standard industry practice.
The goal is to create the information necessary to make the garment correctly.
DESIGN WITH PRODUCTION IN MIND
A design that looks good on paper does not always translate directly into production.
Fabric behavior, seam construction, garment balance, fit, machinery, finishing methods, and production quantities can all affect how a design should be developed.
Because Final Row works directly with pattern making, sampling, cutting, sewing, and production, our recommendations are made with the manufacturing process in mind.
This allows potential issues to be identified before they become expensive production problems.
When appropriate, we may recommend adjusting a construction method, material, detail, or finishing technique to improve:

- Overall garment quality
The final design direction remains yours. Our role is to provide the technical and manufacturing perspective needed to make informed decisions.
FIT & PROPORTION
Fit is one of the most important parts of garment development.
During development, we can review the garment's:
- Overall silhouette
- Balance
- Length
- Shoulder
- Chest and body proportions
- Sleeve proportions
- Waist and hip
- Rise and inseam
- Ease
- Functional movement
When a sample requires correction, we identify the necessary changes and translate those decisions back into the pattern before the next stage of development.
The objective is not simply to make the garment match a measurement chart.
The objective is to make the garment fit and fall the way the design intends.
FABRIC & TRIM GUIDANCE
The right construction depends heavily on the materials being used.
We can help evaluate fabrics and trims in relation to the intended design, including considerations such as:

- Structure
- Drape
- Stretch
- Hand feel
- Durability
- Construction compatibility
- Intended end use
For brands that need additional support, Final Row can also provide sourcing assistance for fabrics, trims, buttons, zippers, labels, hangtags, and other production components.
Clients are also welcome to provide their own materials.
FROM CONSULTING TO PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT
Design consulting at Final Row does not have to end with recommendations.
Once the direction is confirmed, the project can move directly into our New York development process:
1. Design Review
We review the concept, references, intended fit, materials, and project requirements.
2. Development Direction
Construction, proportions, materials, and technical considerations are discussed and clarified.
3. Pattern Making
The approved design is translated into a physical production pattern.
4. Sample Making
Our New York sample makers construct the first sample.
5. Fitting & Evaluation
The physical garment is reviewed for fit, proportion, construction, and design accuracy.
6. Corrections
Necessary changes are incorporated into the pattern and sample.
7. Production Preparation
Once approved, the garment can proceed into grading and production.
This creates a continuous development process without requiring the client to coordinate separately between a consultant, pattern maker, sample maker, and production team.

Part of professional consulting is knowing when an idea needs to be reconsidered.
We do not tell clients that every construction, material, timeline, or production target is possible simply to accept a project.
We review what you are trying to achieve and explain what we believe can be executed accurately.
If something will not work as intended, we will tell you.
When there is a practical alternative, we will explain the options and help determine the most appropriate direction.
We believe accurate expectations at the beginning of development save time, cost, and unnecessary revisions later.
